Roman Catholics have forgotten how to pray with sacred art and hardly anyone seems to care - this is as true of the pious and traditionally-minded Catholics as it is of liberals and it has been so for 200 years. Until we re-learn to this ancient practice, the Church will continue to hemorrhage believers and fail to evangelize the faithless. They knew the importance of this in the past and this is why people were martyred for defending the use of art against the iconoclasts 1200 years ago. Can you imagine anyone doing the same today?
I discuss just why art is so important to the mission of the Church; and how St. Thomas's Fourth Way can give us insight into how to harness its power to re-evangelize the culture.
