Fr. Deacon Lawrence Klimecki RIP

Note, since this was written, I have been informed of a GoFundMe for donations to Deacon Lawrence’s widow AnNita, please do consider a donation, the link will explain. The link is here https://gofund.me/f223e637

It is with great sadness that I report that I learned of the sudden death of my friend and colleague Deacon Lawrence Klimecki. He died on April 26th. This is a great shock. I had been in communication with him earlier that day and there was no hint that he was in ill health.

Lawrence was a great servant to the Church as a Deacon, as a speaker and writer whose articles appeared in numerous outlets. He contributed regularly to my blog (and was commented on more often than my own blog pieces!). He was a commissioned artist and was also Pontifex University’s first Master of Sacred Arts graduate. He worked with me at Pontifex University and was about to teach two courses at University of Mary based upon these credentials.

He had a lot to offer but God, who knows what is best, has called him home. He will be greatly missed.

As an example of his art work, here is a piece which to me is reminiscent of fin-de-siecle gothic revival art, but there are some of his own additions here. Note the guilloche pattern of connected circles in the border and the geometric pattern in the background with 12-fold symmetry. These are traditionally used in Christian art, especially in areas where there is contact with the Islamic world, such as in Sicily around 1000AD. I like to think that perhaps this influence came through what he learned in our MSA classes.

Please pray for the repose of his soul and for his widow, AnNita.

AnNita told me that there is no salary coming into the household now that he has gone. So please consider going to his site and buying some artwork of his as a momento to him and to help financially.
